This past week I went on college visits. I had a great experience and really enjoyed what I saw. The whole process of touring university, while may be different for everyone, is an enthralling experience that can change your life. Due to this, some things should be taken into consideration.
Every school has its own intricacies and should be explored to the fullest before you potentially spend four years there. In order to make the most out of your visit, you need to allocate a suitable amount of time to explore the different schools within the university and the town that the university is in. I personally found that having a two day period in each city was a good amount of time to see the city itself and what the school has to offer. In order to get a good view of what the university offers, you need to do a tour.
Tours are a great way to explore universities and get more information on your potential major, the living quarters, and pretty much everything to do with going to school. During my tour of Savannah College of Art & Design, I found a completely new major and/or career path that I am interested in. I went into the tour thinking I was set on architecture; however, when I visited the industrial design building, I was intrigued with the real life implementation of designs and design principles that the students made. Without the tour, I wouldn’t have been aware of this newfound interest that could completely change my college experience. The most important thing, however, is being ready to see yourself in the next step of your life.
One of the schools I visited was Samford University. My sister attends this school, so I have visited it many times. However after seeing it this past time and being able to go into new buildings and learn more about the programs, I have a newfound appreciation for it and can picture myself going there. This was different when I had visited it before, where I never really
