Young Actor Begins To Find Her Talent

Acting can be an escape for many people as a way to channel their emotions into something good. For others, it can be as simple as something to do as a hobby for fun, but either way acting can be a great activity to try.

For Rory Bedford, acting is something she is able to excel at as she continues to learn more about her talents. Bedford really enjoys acting because it was the first thing she has really been able to enjoy as an extra activity.

“I like getting to pretend to be someone I’m not,” Bedford said. “Because it is fun to do things I normally wouldn’t do in my everyday life.”

Fredericksburg Middle School theatre director Mr. David Remschel has affected Bedford’s career in many different ways.

“Mr. Remschel was able to help me one-on-one with specific skills while I did theatre at the middle school,” Bedford said. “He supported my needs and wants while also helping everyone else excel.”

However, Remschel wasn’t able to make all of Bedford’s nerves go away.

“When I was nervous, I would go backstage and jump up and down by myself to try and calm my nerves,” Bedford said.

One thing Bedford is not nervous for is memorizing lines for her future big roles; she has got that down.

“I rely on repetition fully. I say my lines over and over and over again, Bedford said. ”I do this by myself, not with anyone else.”

Bedford sees herself acting in the future, but for now, she is in theatre

productions at the high school.

“I did a show in fourth grade in community theatre, but I really got involved in 6th grade at the middle school,”  Bedford said. “Right now I am not acting at the high school, but in the future, I see myself acting at the Pointe in Ingram.”

One of Bedford’s favorite parts of acting is getting her costumes.

“I do enjoy getting to see what my character would wear and being able to fully

immerse myself in the character,” Bedford said. “I just want to see where my talent in acting is able to take me and what life has in store for me in my future.”
