The Billie freshmen basketball team faced off against the Wimberley Texans on Jan. 11, as it was their first district game of their high school careers. The Billies managed to outscore the Texans in all four quarters, keeping the Texans from scoring double digits in a quarter. The Billies went on to win this game 69-23 and started off district play 1-0.

”We played well on both ends of the floor to start the district schedule. We were very well balanced scoring the basketball and did a good job pressuring them full court,” Coach Adam Riley said. “Our defensive rotations in the half court still need a lot of improvement. Overall, it was a great way to start district play, and I’m very proud of the effort we played with.”

Ethan Sanchez led the team in scoring with 16. Javier Rodriguez followed close behind with 13, and Cole Immel and Kade Jenschke both put up 10 for the Billies. Judson Beard and Luis Sosa both racked up nine points for the Billies, and Kyle Kuhlmann finished with two.

With this win, the Billies are now 14-2 on the season and don’t have any plans of turning back now. They look to continue their win streak throughout district and finish with a district title.
