The varsity girls’ basketball team faced off against Canyon Lake at home on Jan. 9. This was a highly anticipated game as it was set to be the first district game of the season. The Billies dominated the game from the start, coming out on top with the score 70-36, improving to 17-7 on the season and 1-0 in district play.

Freshman Ella Hartmann was the leading scorer for the Billies, putting up 16 points on the night. Brittley Bowers scored 13 for the Billies, followed by Audrey Spurgin who concluded with 12 points. Anna Gold managed to score nine for the Billies, Avery Crouse had six.

Gold led the team in rebounds, grabbing a total of nine on the night. Hartmann led the team in assists with four, to go along with the Billies 14. 

The Billies are currently 4-0 in district play, after stomping out all the competition and look to keep the hot streak going against Canyon Lake on Jan. 28.
