Echoe Bruns by Andrea Villagrana

Every marching band is different. From uniform to music to people. Luckily our band has Ms. Bruns. Growing up liking music, Bruns joined her school’s marching band and loved it so much did it all four years and even majored in music in college.

While in high school Ms.Bruns played the trombone and was taught by Mr. H, the FHS band director. Before joining FHS, Bruns taught at an elementary school teaching music. Her favorite musical piece is an upbeat and fun song called “Toccata” by Frank Erickson.

The band this year has finished all four parts of their music and are still perfecting their field movements. Their show is called Imagination which has four parts, Aurora Awakes, Symphony 10 Movement 2, Pure Imagination, and Imaginarium. Competitions have already started and things are going well so far.

Ms. Bruns works all day from when school starts to 9 pm on most days. They do two weekly rehearsals along with weekly football games and weekly competitions. Bruns also works with her fellow classmate, Mr.Kindla. When asked about how she feels about working with someone she went to school with, she said, “It’s cool to work with Mr. Kindla since we were both students of Mr. H, so it’s kind of fun to see the transition from being students together to teaching together.”
