“My biggest goal for my life is to have an epic family and a good job that pays well. My favorite school activity is probably drumming-jazz band and marching band. I started percussion my freshman year. I’m at least three years behind everyone else who started in middle school, so I’d say catching up is my greatest challenge. I am most proud of making drumline and proving to myself and everyone what I can do. In ten years I see myself married to my girlfriend. We’ll have a dog and a nice house. I hope to have my bachelors or masters in computer science, and I’d like to go into a related career, possibly game design, and be able to afford a really nice drum set. My favorite type of music is definitely jazz. It makes me feel very alive and I love jamming out to it. I’m not a huge fan of modern music, but jazz is such a beautiful art form and in my opinion it’s the best type of music. I really love high-speed jazz like “Spain. Some of my favorite songs right now are “Caravan, “Too Hip to Retire, and “Upswingin. I haven’t done a lot of traveling, but someday I’d like to visit Hawaii and Australia. My biggest advice to others is this: As teenagers, we tend to overthink a lot. I do it. But I think life’s not as threatening as it seems. I feel like we have room for air, but we try to make ourselves perfect. And we shouldn’t, we should just try to relax a little and enjoy it.”
