“At least by junior year, I want to have the highest max in powerlifting for girls in my weight class. I grew up in Pontiac, Illinois, which was even smaller than Fredericksburg. My favorite thing about Pontiac was the snow, and Chicago was nearby, so I went and saw the Cubs play. I’m most afraid of dying without accomplishing my goals, and I feel most comfortable with either my step mom or boyfriend because they are both people I can strongly relate to and bond with. Someone that inspires me is my boyfriend. He inspires me to be better and grow as a person and to be happier and stronger.”

About the Contributor
Joseph Burkett is a freshman at Fredericksburg High School. He participates in ag and journalism classes. For hobbies, he enjoys cooking and loves food. You can probably find him asleep in public parks or hanging out with his friends. He wakes up, showers, goes to school, goes home, cooks for himself, Rewatches JJk [again], and does homework. Then repeat. Occasionally family or friends will drag him out of the house and to places that range from San Antonio to some island country he doesn’t know the name of until he’s on the way home. They do tell him in advance; he just wasn’t listening. He can have friends over whenever. They don’t ask him if they can come over; they just do. There are times when Joseph will go to his kitchen for a late-night snack and will just find someone and their friend stealing hauls of chips from his pantry like it’s a budget spy movie. Joseph Burkett is quite tired.
