“My main goal as a teacher is to get students to have a passion for creating art and a better
understanding for art to help figure out if art is something they’re even interested in pursuing
further. For the advanced art classes, I like helping students find their personal artistic voice and
introduce students to competing in art, if that is something they are interested in. The cool thing
about art is that it includes so many other subjects. We can get into history, mythology, religion,
and look at other cultures. I love that art is open ended– there are no right or wrong answers, it’s
about taking risks and seeing what happens with those risks. I’m both a procrastinator and a
perfectionist and those things don’t work well together, so I have a hard time finishing projects. If
I weren’t a teacher, if money was not a concern, I would run an animal rescue. Whenever I am
stressed out I have a farm full of animals that I can spend time with to relax. I can’t decide what
the best thing in my life is. That is so hard. I don’t know. I’ve gotten to do so many cool things. I
traveled to Ireland, I have a child that has survived all the way almost to adulthood now, I’ve
been married, there’s a lot of good things in my life so it’s hard to pick one.
