The Battlin’ Billies swim team competed at the San Antonio Natatorium Jan. 11 winning second place overall.

The boys ranked second for the winter invitational. The Men’s 200 Medley Relay, a team of Troy Kneese, Graham Hammond, Tony Martinez and Zach Willis placed first. In the Men’s A 200 Free Relay the boys placed second with a team of Hammond, Kneese, Will Shepard and Willis. The Boy’s B 200 Free Relay team of Karsten Ottmers, Gus Spence, Kieran Ferriere and Hal Degenhardt. Men’s 400 Free A Relay team consisted of Hammond, Kneese, Smedley, and Martinez placing first. The Men’s 400 B Relay team consisted of Shepard, Spence, Ottmers and Degenhardt placing eighth.

Ottmers placed fourth and Ferriere placed ninth in the Men’s 50 back. Martinez placed first in the Men’s 200 IM. Willis placed fourth, Smedley placed seventh and Shepard placed tenth in the Men’s 50 Free. Hammond placed second in the Men’s 50 Breast. Kneese placed second, Smedley placed third, and Degenhardt placed tenth in the Men’s 100 Free. Martinez placed first and Shepard placed fifth in the Men’s 100 Back. In the Men’s 50 Fly, Shepard placed fifth, and Willis placed ninth. Martinez placed first, Hammond placed second and Kneese placed third in the Men’s 100 Breast.

The girl’s ranked second overall in the Winter Invitational Meet. The Women’s 200 Medley Relay placed first with a team of Emma Shepard, Katya Walker, Silke Huth and Mary Cornett.  The Women’s 200 Free Relay placed second with a team of Maggie Shepard, Huth, Walker and Cornett.  Huth, Walker, Emma Shepard and Cornett placed second in the Women’s 400 Free Relay.

Maggie Shepard placed tenth in the Women’s 200 Free. Cami Tubbs placed fifth in the Women’s 50 Back. Cornett placed first and Emma Shepard placed ninth in the Women’s 50 Free. Huth placed first, and Walker placed third in the Women’s 50 Breast. Cornett placed first, and Maggie Shepard placed tenth in the Women’s 100 Free. Walker placed fifth in the Women’s 500 Free.  In Women’s 100 Breast Huth placed first, and Maggie Shepard placed seventh.

The Billie Swim team will compete next at NEISD Josh Davis Natatorium for their district meet on Jan. 24.
