Red-Hotts Win Awards at Dance Competition

On Feb. 16th, the Red-Hotts Dance Team competed in Danceline USA’s Hill Country Dance Competition, which was hosted here in the Fredericksburg High School Gym. Red-Hotts competed against several other teams including Tivy’s Golden Girls and Burnet’s Highlandettes. 

The FHS Dance Team won top awards at the competition. Eight members of the dance team competed in solos. Winning a Division I Rating were Abigail Sechrist, Chelo Rivera, Shelby Brown, Julie Grimmer and Kendra Sanchez. Platinum Solo Winners scoring over a 95 were Mariah Boyd, Allison James and Camryn Mikosh. James was named a solo finalist with one of the top five scores of the day. 

The Red-Hott officers scored a Division I on the Officer Contemporary Routine. The routine was also recognized as a Gold Top Score of the day and won Best In Category. The team won a Platinum Sweepstakes with scores above 95 on all routines entered. The team also won Best In Category 1st Place for all 3 team routines. Their skirt routine won a Top Gold Award and Category Champion. The military routine won a special award for outstanding precision. Their contemporary routine won Category Champion and a Judges Award.

 Emma Hallford won the Photogenic Contest. Julie Grimmer won third place in the Kick Technique Challenge. Camille Rhyne won third place in the Turn Technique Challenge. Landry Dartez was a top five finalist in the Toe Touch Technique Challenge. The Red-Hotts also won Second Place Ring of Champions scoring the second highest average of the day. 

The Red-Hotts are now preparing for their Spring Show, which will be on the 26th and 27th of April.
