“My biggest supporter in life is my dad because no matter what he has always been there for me through the ups and downs. He always comes to my games- cheer and soccer. My dad is my number one fan. My favorite subject is history because I get to look back at how today was created from some of the biggest moments in history. The Battle of the Alamo is my favorite time and moment in history because it really shows how Texas fought for our freedom. One of my greatest accomplishments is when we made 8th in state for cheer. We would practice every morning and twice in the afternoon. It got hard sometimes but we stayed positive and the hard work paid off most definitely. Some advice I would give to younger grades is to enjoy all the moments in high school because it really does go by faster than you think. Cherish and enjoy the little moments such as going to volleyball games or football games, or even just seeing your favorite teacher in the hallway everyday. Even if you’re just a freshman and new to highschool, start enjoying your time here because next thing you know, you’ll be walking across that stage.”

Lila Jahnke Matthes is currently a freshman at Fredericksburg High School. Matthes’ favorite hobbies are journaling, going on walks, playing volleyball and soccer with her family, and taking naps. When she's procrastinating about doing homework, you can find her on the soccer field with her best friends. Matthes is happiest when she's watching a movie with her family on the couch. Popcorn and M&Ms make the best movie snack! This aspiring freshman loves road trips, with occasional stops in the Starbucks drive- thru. One day, she hopes to travel to every continent on her search for adventure. Matthes is hoping for a 100% High School Musical experience- dancing and all. It could be the start of something new.
